Super Foods – Where To Start?

Super Foods delivery oh my! Well I am still struggling to get my balance back after my travels – there are a few things I need to sort out before I can move on, and wow what happened to my veg patch? With the weather swapping extremes, I just can’t keep up with it, we have a day of heavy rain and then several day’s of hot sun and it is hard to see what is what! My cucumbers - where did they go? And why do I have broccoli all over the place? Well I don’t think the mole helps, he seems to throw seeds around at an alarming rate – haha!

 

My Box Of  Super Foods!

So at last my delivery of raw Super Foods turned up, I have been singing lost in France for 2 weeks!

I bought a mountain of books while I was away too and now my toy box of goodies have arrived, I think I need to breath for a while, it is all very exciting but overwhelming too!

Super foods – now these I have always had a bit of an issue with.  I like to live in the naivety of real food, and always thought I would rather stay away from pills and powders, it is not that I disagree their value, but I spent years in the health & fitness industry and I am very suspicious of many so called health products, unfortunately like most things in life ‘it’s all about the money’!

Many health products are not any better value than regular foods in my experience, and some are just packed with fillers that we don’t want which means the product we are after is in minute amount that we way a fortune for!

However – I have to get out of this mind set as they are not all rubbish! But how do we know which ones are worth our effort, health and money?

 

Super Foods Are They Worth Bothering With?

Well – I have just completed a course all about Super Foods :)

Studying the theories of each super food along with how and why they came about brings excitement to me, and providing they come  from a good source we can’t go wrong.

I have used a combined mix of super foods for years and have to say I love it – I always feel great while on it, most of the super foods I know and love are all in there – all the green powders Like Spirulina, Chlorella, (blue green algea’s) grasses, sea weeds & much more.

I felt the benefit of this brand I trusted so that seemed OK to me, but I don’t like to use anything constantly, so the new concept I have taken on from my course makes sense, trying each individually and see how it feels is obviously a good idea as well as being able to use daily but in rotation, yep, I am happy with that. Unfortunately that throws out my excuse for being lazy!

I have always been a lazy eater, I will miss meals frequently out of habit and then go and eat rubbish because I have gone too long without food!

It has taken a long time to change my habits, this is why the juicing suits me so well, it’s easy to throw all the goodies that I probably would’t bother with into a juicer and know I am getting good the stuff, and then to add a shot of my super food mix, that’s perfect isn’t it?

OK – so now it’s time to study which ones do what for me personally!

Actually it is a lot of fun, so I am off to play in the kitchen and will be back with my results :) …….

 

Ooops My Alarm Went Off -That Means It’s Time For Juice and Super Foods!

pause……………………….

Well – the alarm is to make sure I have my juice breaks to help me stay on track and break those old habits (of a lifetime) actually it works :)

Crikey – there are not many greens left in my fridge! That means a forage in the garden and some super foods :)

So I had -

  • spinach
  • beetroot
  • celery ….

all great internal cleansers

From  the garden

  • rocket
  • parsley
  • carrot greens
  • lettuce
  • mint
  • spearmint (ooo!)
  • and some broccoli leaves :)

Well this could be interesting, not sure about the mint, oh well give it a go! I added -

  • pro-biotics
  • green powders
  • ground chia seeds -

more  cleansing and building too!

It was gorgeous! Didn’t taste the mint much at all but the little bit of flavour was surprisingly nice :)

 


Super Foods Green Juice - Foraging For Juicy Greens!

 

This is one almighty power packed juice – full of nutrients that my body will thrive on – vitamins, minerals, antioxidants & cleansers – the super foods will help me build and fill me with energy!

So my findings with super foods – yep, so far I am happy.

When we cleanse our body naturally through raw foods and super foods – we become very in tune with ourselves and able to figure immediately which foods make us feel good and which don’t, and we all may respond differently to different super foods – so that intuition is needed.

The super foods I have used here are my regular type – I want to particularly tune in and take notice so that I have clear knowledge  of what my new ones will do for me – stay tuned to find out ( oh pardon the pun) ha ha!

    Interesting Thoughts, If you’ve been hearing more lately about raw foods and raw food diets, it’s because the word is finally getting out that uncooked foods are the healthiest foods on the planet and that people are losing weight on raw foods. Also called living and plant foods some are eaten by most people every day. However most people are only eating small amounts and then there are those who don’t eat any of these at all.

  2. I’m thinking of starting a raw food diet for a few weeks to see what the health benefits/ weight loss is like. However, I was wondering if the diet is meant to be vegetarian, or if raw fish ie sushi can be eaten. I don’t mind either way, I’d just like to know. Also to anyone who’s done the diet, how did you find it? Did it do everything it said on the packet ie increased energy, better skin weight loss etc? Thanks in advance!

      Hi Linda, there are people who include raw fish into their diet as well as some who do organic raw meat, diet is very personal and personally for me – my choice is raw plant food. A lot I grow myself, and some I buy local organic. Green raw definitely will produce amazing results not only physically but holistically, life improves completely. Many people choose part raw – 50% upwards, if your diet is 50% raw (especially salads/veg/juices) health improves dramatically. Hope this helps?

    Raw food diet is one of the best diet that you can get since it does not involve artifical chemicals on the foods that you will eat.
