Raw Food Benefits -Tips To Avoid The Bugs!
Posted by Cher Fauvel on Jan 13, 2013 in The Raw kitchen | 2 commentsI am definitely starting to feel the cold now, but hopefully I have built my immune system enough to avoid any bugs. This time last year was not so good – hey that virus knocked me for six. It is easy to avoid, when we know we are feeling below par, we may not feel like it, but this is the time when we should work harder on the diet to get the Raw Food Benefits and boost the immune system!
Below are a few immune building tips I would love to share with you …
Health begins with maintaining a strong immune system, it’s that simple.
This is the perfect time to test the value of Raw Food Benefits ; January and February are known as our worst months for catching the common cold and viruses and then we run the risk of secondary infection which may need antibiotics leading to further health issues, and so the vicious circle goes on………not good!
The cause of viruses are still not completely understood, but what is clear is that there is a lot we can do to help ourselves to stay strong and keep up our defense against them, it simply boils down to us building our immune system and keeping it strong. We often don’t feel like eating so juices and smoothies are the answer for building our immune system and get the Raw Food Benefits.
Raw Food Benefits – Build Your Immune System
Green Juices And Smoothies are to me the ultimate for achieving raw food benefits – the best way to build that immune system and the only way to get the amount of greens that we need. Loaded with vitamins and minerals along with disease fighting antioxidants, they are awesome. To Include just one Green Juice or Smoothie per day will go a long way to help you ward of the microorganisms, like debilitating viruses and bacteria, and they help keep away the winter blues too!
Raw Food Benefits From Roots!
Roots are amazing for keeping us in tip top form, they have strong antibacterial, anti- inflammatory and antioxidant properties, the perfect ingredient for our juices – Optimal Raw Food Benefits.
Garlic, ginger, turmeric, ginseng and echinachea are favorite, add to your raw food juices. If you don’t fancy that, try a raw food soup with them added, and if all else fails you can always have them in capsule form. (I take Ginseng & Echinachea in capsule or tincture).

Garlic – long known for its healing abilities and massive raw food benefits - known by the ancients to treat anything from worms to phenomena! Natural antibiotic, increases resistance to infection, cleanses and keeps away all known germs …even your friends (oops) If you can’t do Raw, just increase your intake as much as you can.
Ginger - anti-inflammatory, a powerful natural painkiller and effective against colds and flu. Ginger has long been known for it’s positive effects on the digestive tract, a warming herb, ginger can help shake a fever and apart from that it is a delicious addition to our raw food green juice.
Turmeric - a powerful medicine used in the Chinese and Indian systems of medicine as an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and disinfectant agent to treat a wide variety of conditions including : joint pain, chest pain, jaundice, menstrual difficulties, hemorrhage, toothache, bruises, colic, flatulence, bowel problems and many more nasties. A very powerful antioxidant!
(fabulous for women, used for ions by our Asian friends - helps to balance and regulate, aids fat metabolism and weight management)
Ginseng – along time favourite of mine - The king root! The king of tonics, rejuvenates, rebuilds and regenerates, treats degenerating disease and boosts at the deepest level of the immune system! The Greeks named this root Panax - a Latin term for ‘healing all’.
Echinachea - another wonder herb full to the brim with raw food benefits – a beautiful flower that holds it’s power in it’s roots – works to build the immune system by stimulating white blood cells, which attack the viruses and bacteria that lead to illness or infection. Use when you start to feel a little low or others around you are suffering with the dreaded bugs!
