Not Putting Up With This! – Full-On Raw Attack Is Needed!

Wow I am feeling like death! Horrible virus came and zapped me :(  I am very surprised,  (I should not be) I have not had anything like this in years, even when my partner Steve comes down with the dreaded lurgy, I get away with it most times thanks to raw food and it’s immune building ability. I usually get a few snuffles, maybe a little sore throat but it doesn’t normally get a grip of me!  A Virus is the body in crisis, it is crying out to rest, heal and cleanse…. more on that later….

I must say I am feeling angry with myself,  the last 4 months have been hard and I am going through something more than a little emotional right now, (all the more reason for extra care .. doh no excuses) so I guess it is not that surprising that my immune system is a little out of whack, but I hate to be beaten especially when I write about how to stay healthy with raw food all the time : -( My raw lifestyle has definitely suffered.

Raw Food Attack To Rebuild

Raw Food to kill the Bugs

Wow My head has been pounding all day and feels as though it is in a vice! I ache all over and .. oooo I hate when your skin hurts! I really should have started to hit it yesterday but I really didn’t think it would develop … ops!

I have stayed in bed all day and drifted in and out of sleep,  the best thing I could do, but heck I hate it and was very mardy and feeling sorry for myself :(

The good news is I had my trusty ipad and when awake did lot’s of research for what is new in Raw. I am excited and look forward to sharing my finds with you :)

But for now I need to focus on building myself up again, and get refocused on raw, you have heard me say that before haven’t you?

So The Raw Plan To Kill The Enemy!

The truth is that a cold or virus is just the body trying to clean up, when we have not been kind to ourselves and put too much rubbish in there instead of good wholesome nutritious raw food, the body will do all it can to stop us and demand rest and healing, it simply puts us out of action to give it time to do the job it does best – Heal!

Since back in October I have struggled to stay on track and stay raw for one reason or another, there always seems to be something going on that gets in the way, well no more excuses, I hate being ill and only have myself to blame for it!

So we should see these viruses as a wake up call, why have we gotten so low that the bugs can take over, it is no good fighting and pressing on, taking medication so as not to feel the pain, this will just damage the body further.

It is important to rest and take note of the body’s message, eat good immune building food, stick to raw food, juices and smoothies for a while to allow the body to heal and strengthen the immune system again.

Taking care of me…

So first I have a reasonably hot bath with essential oils, (should have done this last night) Essential oils are amazingly effective if used as soon as we feel the slightest symptoms!

2 drops of lavender

2 drops of bergamot

2 drops of  T-Tree

Lavender is the most versatile of the oils and has been used for thousands of years never losing popularity. Lavender is awesome, it is antiseptic, anti-viral, antibiotic and anti-bacterial. It also eases muscle pain.  A steam inhalation if you can stand it, is a very effective way to help the healing, and protects from any secondary infection, feeling a little nauseous I decided against this option.

Tip…

Put a few drops of lavender in a small water spray and spray around your home if you or someone around you is suffering from a cold or virus. If someone comes into your home sporting a bug, spray as soon as they leave to protect the members of your home.

I sprayed everywhere, and especially our bedroom to protect Steve, I also put a drop either side of his throat. You can of course use in an oil burner. Using in the bedroom will also aid good sleep.

Bergamot – again antiseptic,  Bergamot is widely used for people who suffer with depression and also used as an appetite regulator, but chosen for my bath for its amazing uplifting properties and it blends well with lavender.

Be careful with this one, and never use neat. It can cause skin sensitivity in some people and also makes our skin sun sensitive!

Tea-Tree – the amazing Tea-Tree – active against all three categories of infectious organisms, bacteria, virus and fungi. It is also an effective immune stimulant – which is more to the point – perfect. Tea- tree will stimulate sweating and help the healing.

So these three little wonders in my bath, 1 drop of lavender each side of my throat (from behind the ear and down the side of the throat) and a drop of  Tea- Tree on the sole of each foot, this again is a method you can use to ward of infection if you feel symptoms coming on!

A  WORD OF WARNING – RESPECT THE OILS AND NEVER EVER  USE MORE THAN TWO DROPS!

Seek advice from a reputable therapist for any further help.

OK, a brisk rub down to help ease the muscles, wrap up warm and I am good to go, feel better already!  Next – my raw food soldiers!

Which Raw Food Choices Will I Make To Help Rebuild My Immune System!

Raw Food Berry Smoothie

Well obviously I need an overdose of vitamin C and so the raw food Choices are huge! My Choice is going to be the amazing berries. I have talked to you a lot about the power of the raw food berries, I love these little power houses!

So a raw food berry smoothie it is then, yummy! I always keep berries in my freezer for my raw food juices and smoothies, at the moment I have raspberries (would never be without these raw beauties) blueberries, black berries, cranberries and cherries! I also have an assortment of dried berries, so they all go in to give my body the antioxidants needed to help cleanse and build my strength again. The antioxidants or as I like to call them ‘the riot police’, will round up the free radicals that are causing war inside us and escort them away. These free radicals are what cause us illness and disease! This in mind helps us to realize that we can actually always remain in good health if we take responsibility right?

Oh I am in so much trouble :( I will go and stand in the corner, shame on me!

I have been chuntering on a lot lately about how I have not been eating as I should and I know I have not been as good to myself as I should be either, always too busy, one thing or another ……………..

This is my wake up call to get myself back into shape! Slapped wrist for me then :(

Early night and I should be feeling much better tomorrow!

So remember don’t fight the virus, protect yourself from it by keeping strong, build your immune system by adding more raw food choices into your life!

Be Healthy ~ Be Your Best ………………………………………and I will be mine ;0
