Healthy Teeth – Me No Happy Bunny!Posted by Cher Fauvel on Oct 4, 2013 in Raw Food Benefits | 8 comments
Oh, I am not happy, not happy with me that is, ugh what a week it has been – Healthy Teeth is the issue! I am annoyed with myself, I have put the dentist off for way too long – but for good reasons I believe!
Well I have always been aware of the importance of maintaining healthy teeth especially when we decide to go raw or change our diet in anyway. It is known that problems with teeth can arise for vegan or raw food enthusiasts, and this was not completely understood for a very long time and even now can be confusing, but I thought I had it covered.
I have had sensitive teeth for ever and suffered badly after having my son, although that is not totally to blame, my diet as a youngster was very poor, I just didn’t like food!
Not having enough knowledge back then, I trusted dentists and to my horror some very negative experiences occurred, I even had a wisdom tooth pulled with no pain killer and then learned that this was not the problem! Oh wait – is that where my wisdom went?
Then because of my fear of dentists, some idiot put so much crap into my gum I couldn’t get home on my own and couldn’t see for hours!
So there is number one reason for avoiding the dentist, the second is because I have moved around a fair bit and not having faith in dentists anyway, trusting foreign ones was even harder (must apologize to the Greek dentists)
I will say at this point that Greece is a place I would go to for medical or dentist work (if I had to), they do have some of the best specialists – really they do, they are faultless and many people travel to Greece and especially Crete for medical and dental care. Some of the worlds leading consultants practice and train young doctors in Heraklion hospital.
However now in France – apparently this is not the case here, the french dentists are crazy about root canals so I am told (aww horror strikes again) well I experienced this old fashioned approach!
Root canals can actually create energetic blocks in the body which could lead to disruption of the organs proper function. If we have a weak internal organ, a root canal performed on the associated meridian tooth could make the condition worse.
My third reason for putting off the dreaded dentist is that I am not convinced we cant actually heal our own teeth, be responsible for all of our being! Does that sound silly? Well why? After all our teeth are not some extremity that does not connect to the rest of us- right? Right – so holistic again, and what an interesting subject to study!
We should be responsible for our own Healthy Teeth! Did you know that teeth relate to all parts of the body and can tell us a lot about our health in detail?
I have studied the body for most of my life, through all of my training the teeth were kind of last on the list, how mad is that? I guess we have more knowledge now, but even still, I wonder how many therapists learn the holistic’s of teeth! Unless that is that we train in China or India! Oh that’s where we get to the roots! (pardon the pun).
Our teeth are connected by nerves to the brain which send messages to specific parts of the body. It’s apparently rare that this is even taught in dental schools!
Take a look at this chart from naturalmatters.net
Rather an eye opener don’t you think?
Healthy Teeth – Yep We Can do it!
So this was my dilemma, I felt ashamed that I had not acted sooner, I was aware of a problem developing – I won’t tell you how long ago this was ……… So is this what I mean by being responsible for healthy teeth – going to the dentist? Well no actually – not quite!
What I learned was that my reasons for staying away from the dentist was valid because I knew there was a way I could work this myself, but I didn’t get around to doing it – OK, here comes my excuse …
Look – I have had a bad year, and things have got me down, so yes I knew how to get back on the healthy teeth route, but just didn’t, so now dependent on a dentist Arghhh! - oh, that word excuse .. …. er ….. ‘EXCUSE’ me … oh yeah speaks volumes!
Healthy Teeth – not me today!
I thought I best go see whats going to need to be done, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I was in shock, but guess what? It was enough to wake me up! Two bridges and an extraction … what? I came away feeling pretty fed up with myself for leaving it so long, but… then I awakened, I don’t think so, no – this is an opportunity to put my healing theories to the test.
I just have to shake myself up a bit and take control, healthy teeth can be built in the same way as a healthy body, they may never be quite the same but, it can be done! Got some work to do but, hey that’s OK, bring it on!
Healthy Teeth Were Once Mine!
When I was young people used to comment on my teeth almost everyday, they were very white and I didn’t have a filling until I was 14, that is not bad, but looking back that was not going to last, my diet was so poor and got even worse, so I ended up with most of my adult life trying to repair the damage!
Healthy Teeth were not priority, I took them for granted – so my mission is on! At least there is no infection, bacteria etc, just broken – OK, I can deal with that!
Listen to this amazing chat with Nadine in the video – Nadine Artemis is an expert on healthy teeth in my opinion, I have listened to her lectures for a long time – shame I didn’t act on them
So I am on a mission to rebuild my teeth, I will be oil pulling for awhile, also specific supplements, natural products and any other useful things I learn along the way, I will let you know how I progress!
Isn’t it refreshing and empowering to take control of everything for your health and your life – to make educated decisions, that’s key!
I am still blown away by how much I know about healthy living and the body, but teeth were on the to do list, to sort later! I have Raw friends who have suffered with their teeth and even listened to their stories and problems! I guess I blocked it somehow, how dumb! Oh well always willing to learn.
