Bottled Water – Be Aware of The Dangers To Your HealthPosted by Cher Fauvel on Aug 1, 2013 in Raw Food Benefits | 2 comments
I decided to write a post about the dangers of bottled water because I am blown away that so many people don’t know the facts! I want everyone to know about this so that they can at least make a conscious decision on whether or not to buy bottled water.
I at least thought everyone new of the dangers of leaving bottled water in a car? Well heck, lets just clear that one up first:
Don’t Drink Bottled Water That Has Been Left In Your Car!
Bottled water in your car is very dangerous! It has been identified as the most common cause of the high levels of dioxin in breast cancer tissue. Dioxins are highly toxic and can cause reproductive and developmental problems, damage the immune system, interfere with hormones and also cause cancer. Apparently the most toxic chemical known to science!
Now some people think this is ridiculous and I got a couple of angry comments when I put a warning up on face book, but seriously have you looked at the reports? We don’t want scare monger tactics we just want facts right?
I know this can be confusing for people, we have been warned about tap water, so for years we drink bottled water and then all this? I know, I know but look, new studies are being done all the time thankfully, just check and research for yourself, don’t be influenced by marketing or scare mongers! But please do pay attention to the bit about leaving bottled water in your car at least, even if you don’t believe it, is it worth the risk?
Sheryl Crow said that leaving bottled water in her car was the cause of her breast cancer. It has been identified as the most common cause of the high levels of dioxin in breast cancer tissue.Sheryl Crow’s oncologist told her: women should not drink bottled water that has been left in a car. The heat reacts with the chemicals in the plastic of the bottle which releases dioxin into the water. Dioxin is a toxin increasingly found in breast cancer tissue.
Dioxin chemical DOES cause cancer, and especially breast cancer. Don’t freeze plastic bottles with water in them either as this also releases dioxins from the plastic.
Some reports say that we need to consume an awful lot of these toxins to cause us a problem and if someone has developed cancer, then they were probably likely to do so anyway, that is not good enough for me! If someone is prone to developing tumors, then all the more reason for them to avoid these poisons, but we need to be given the information obviously to make that decision!
I actually get really annoyed by these sort of reports that say – ” well the risk is low and the body can eliminate these toxins easily”, to me that is ridiculous, why put the body through that?
And It Is Not Just Bottled Water We Have To Worry About!
Heating our food in plastics is also a major health risk. When heating food in plastic containers or covering with plastic wrap, dioxins are released into the food.
The Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital explains about dioxins:
We should not be heating food in the microwave using plastic containers and this especially applies to foods that contain fat, the combination of fat, high heat and plastic releases dioxin into the food.
Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food.
Personally I hate microwaves and refuse to own one (an article for another day) but, listen – if you do use a microwave please be careful, remove anything you are going to put in the microwave from plastic packaging and put in a ceramic or glass container instead.
Ditch the cling film, it produces the same dangers when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave - the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food – gross! Cover food with a paper towel instead.
I hope this helps clear some confusion, I am no scientist but I like to think I take some responsibility, so I learn about the new studies being done and try not to take risks – I want to make my choices – forewarned is forearmed!
This is my favourite bottle – BPA free! The Bobble.
